Exploring Wine in the Tri Cities

Richland. Pasco. Kennewick. Three places that house a people so kind and -oh so close- to some of the most amazing wine that Washington State has to offer.

First, let’s chat about where I stayed.

The Riverfront Richland Hotel

The Lodge at Columbia Point is Richland’s best hotel. It’s the only 4-Star property in the Tri Cities. With modern, but homey architecture and interior design, it fits well with the lovely town surrounding it. With a view of the water, right outside your window, your balcony becomes an oasis. Within minutes of all the best wineries, I’d say this is the perfect place for your next visit.

The Itinerary

Vineyards & Wine Tasting

Barnard Griffin | The best port I’ve tasted in a long while. Great rosé and the best logo ever.

Market Vineyards | Showstopping tannic blends and reds you’ll want to savor and put in your library.

Goose Ridge | Beautiful venue. Cute little gift shop inside.

Tagaris | Mediterranean Food. Huge terrace. Huge assortment of wine.

Chandler Reach Vineyards | Tuscan vibes. Lovely views of Red Mountain. Big tasting pours!

Frichette Winery | Best labels ever. Owner was kind and descriptive. Different, original, wild.

Hedges Family Estate | The best chateau I’ve ever seen. Waterfalls, views, a french paradise. Also great & classic labels.

Dining

Anthony’s | On the waterfront. Stellar cocktails and views.

LULU Craft Bar + Kitchen | Also on the waterfront in Richland. Walkable from The Lodge at Columbia Point.

Drumheller’s | The restaurant in The Lodge. Best food in Richland, hands down.

A Place to Stay when on your way!

The Red Lion in Pasco is a great half way stop if you are on your way to visit Idaho / Couer d’Alene and you’re coming from Portland. It really breaks up the 7 hour drive and you can stop at the amazing nearby wineries!

The Red Mountain AVA

Located on a southwest-facing slope in S Central Washington, Red Mountain is contained in 4,040 acres (1,635 hectares), and is the smallest, warmest wine-grape growing region in WA State. It has a diverse geology, with a gentle southern slope and consistent winds as well as an exceptional heat profile. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah are Red Mountain’s all stars.
