The Kindler - Lincoln
The Kindler is the only boutique hotel in Lincoln, Nebraska and it has a very unique story. With small, personal service (only 45 guest rooms), it has become a staple for anyone looking for an upscale stay downtown. With a prestigious Gatsby-inspired lobby, the Kindler has received the Gold Key Award for Excellence in Hospitality Design, sponsored by Boutique Design Magazine for "Best Lobby, Upper Mid-scale." The masterpiece was designed by Ross Vincent Design, West Hollywood, CA.
Speaking of wine & the restaurant, The Kindler lobby connects to Boitano's lounge which prides themselves on having excellent hand crafted cocktails and an ever-changing seasonal dining menu. The dining experience was developed by Brian Boitano, who is a world-renowned Olympic skater and Food Network star that visits the hotel regularly and is very "hands on" in the lounge overall.
The huge wine cellar is the first thing you see, so if you love wine… you know they know what they are talking about!
The Kindler is named after the owner's, Nick and Brooke (Kindler) Castaneda's, late father Ken Kindler, who was a metal sculpting artist. There are even pieces of his art work throughout the hotel. Ross Vincent brought together elements from the Art Deco era blending them with a very contemporary design, creating the design concept he calls, "Modern Deco." The Kindler feels like a boutique hotel (well, it’s because it is, but it feels like it too!)
My experience in Lincoln, Nebraska:
Driving through a winter storm is not easy. Sometimes, on this long road trip to Nashville… I think that God is asking me “do you really want this? how bad do you want this?” over and over again. I know that it will all be worth it, but man, I did not expect to drive through snow for 12+ hours with low visibility.
Lincoln was the turning point. I drove from the snow of Wyoming to the rain I’m used to back home in Portland. I was so happy to see the rain.
Lincoln is a quaint little town, but it does have a ton of great bars and restaurants. I think I ended up at the best one though, so I feel very blessed.
If I ever return to Lincoln (or WHEN I return to Lincoln), I’ll be staying here for the rest of my stays!
