The Fontaine - Kansas City

The Fontaine is known for a few great things (well, many great things), but especially their large, renaissance-eque painting they had commissioned for their lobby. Dozens of celebrities have offered to buy it but, the attraction itself because more and more valuable to the hotel and they have yet to give in!

There are two main parts of Kansas City’s downtown and The Fontaine is on the “Plaza” side (which, is the upscale, quiet, nicer area). It’s a great place to stay if you don’t want the crazy noises of the city. It’s very peaceful and quiet but there are still great views and plenty to do.

There’s custom tile mosaics in the floor, gleaming marble, carved wood paneling, and you’ll pass by a Venetian glass chandelier as you walk through the lobby.

The details are incredible. It’s truly sophisticated, both modern and classic at the same time.

Who has stayed in this very room? Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, ARod, Garth Brooks, Selena Gomez, Tom Cruz, Taylor Swift, Celine Dion, Drake… I mean, the list goes on and on and on.

With 132 guest rooms, The Fontaine bleeds luxury. From Carrera marble to stainless steel appliances, it really feels like the downtown apartment you always wanted (but could never afford) in New York City. Rain forest shower head, fitness facility, Egyptian cotton linens, rooftop pool, you know, all the things that you could possibly want in a hotel- they have.

Speaking of the rooftop, there’s a stellar restaurant to wander over to with a million dollar wine cellar. Yep! Eat with views, by the poolside terrace, or at the bar top.

My experience in Kansas City.

I’ve only been to Kansas City one other time and it was when I was 12 years old for a traveling Improvisational Theater Team tour trip. Let’s just say this was a very different experience (bursts into laughter)… you know, than a motel with a bunch of homeschoolers!

I had no clue that I’d be staying in the Presidential Suite but OH, my goodness, I almost dropped my camera when I walked through the door. I actually thought that I was just in another area of the hotel and needed to find my room (still), not in my room! It was HUGE. I mean, probably bigger than most houses. The ultimate party spot. The ultimate getaway. I truly felt like a celebrity myself staying in that famous room.

This place is going to be hard to top, no matter where, no matter what I do in the future. I would literally make a trip JUST TO Kanas City, solely to stay at this hotel.

BTW I can’t rave enough about the food. Chef Michael Olson was NEXT LEVEL and super cool. He opened up an Alsacian Gewurtztraminer and a libary 2010 Tempranillo… I mean, c’mon. Amazing.
