Magnolia Hotel - St. Louis

The Magnolia Hotel was opened in 1925 and it’s almost coming up on it’s 100 year birthday! First known as the Mayfair Hotel and (with its Elizabethan style decor) still has the original lobby mezzanine and through various owners it has continued to thrive. Lately, it’s had quite the facelift (a $20 million one in 1987 I might add). In 1979 the hotel was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Presidents Truman and President Johnson established their St. Louis campaign headquarters at The Mayfair.

Magnolia is now a contemporary boutique hotel with a modern twist (somewhat eclectic), with elegant subtleties. The contrast of old and new makes you feel like you have history in the walls, but still a fresh newness in the air.

A cross between historic and modern.

Amy and I worked all morning with the best view of the city!

The rooms are also very minimalist, which allows you to establish yourself however you’d like within the hotel. It’s dripping with contemporary flavor (with the new porcelain tile flooring and faux finish plaster wall surfaces emulating the limestone palette!)

My experience in St. Louis

On this 15 day road trip, Amy was the first one (and the last one) to join me on the trek. It was really nice to see a familiar face and share a taste of such luxury with a friend. We took off to the Bellwether for dinner (which was a stunning little boutique restaurant with a slight Italian twist). We celebrated Amy’s new accomplishment of being the first female in Oregon to be accepted into the infantry in the US Army.

Having a large space for us to work all morning was key. It’s really fun to be able to work on the go! We had a blast visiting the big arch and finding local eats.
