Harmon Guest House - Healdsburg

Let’s talk about Healdsburg.

Growing up in Oregon Wine Country, Northern California has always been a bit of a mystery to me. I witnessed, conversely, that many “Sonomans” had yet to experience the Willamette Valley as well. We’ve been in somewhat of a Pinot-off since the vines were planted decades ago. I think it’s time we start to share the glory, what do you think?

Healdsburg is a quaint, lively town north 20 min of Santa Rosa (an easy airport to fly in and out of). There’s music in the square, dozens of walkable tasting rooms, and an aura of community buzzing through the streets. Even on a Tuesday, it was still popping.

The Harmon Guest House is right in the mix, less than a block from all the action.

Let’s explore.

The Harmon Guest House room experience is incredibly intentional. It feels more like a luxe apartment, very spacious, aimed at relaxation and a home-vibe. It’s modern enough to feel new, but rustic enough to feel classic, with a mid-century twist. It would be perfect for the Silicon Valley tech guru who wanted things up-to-date, but still an escape from the city. Founder, Harmon Heald sure knew what he was doing when he created this modern space amidst a vintage city.

The Perks

Starting with complimentary valet parking, the first thing I noticed is that they never “upcharged” you for luxury perks. There were treats in the room, no extra charge. There was a Nespresso machine to make you the best coffee. Complimentary breakfast next door at a real restaurant, not just any spread.

The design of the hotel is fresh, and the perks follow. Light filled lobby, locally sourced art and fixtures. You have access to small, private areas for parties and picnics. There are panoramic views of downtown, as well as the Sonoma Mountains. They’ve got it all. A firepit, rooftop bar, and pool. Public bikes? You’ve got it.

Speaking of the rooftop, you’ve got a little bit of everything.

If you like to pair your favorite wine with an appropriate meal, you can definitely find something that goes well with any varietal of your choosing.
